Day 1 of Navaratri : Devi Shailaputri

Day 2: Brahmacharini Devi
On occasion of second day of Navaratri Festival, we pray to Devi (Goddess) Brahmacharini.

Day 3: Chandraghanta Devi
Chandraghanta Devi represents supreme bliss and showers peace and prosperity.

Day 4: Kushmanda Devi
On Fourth Day of Navaratri Festival, we worship the Devi in the form of Maa Kushmanda Devi. The word Ku means a little, Ushma means warmth or energy’s and anda means an Egg (In this case, the Cosmic Egg from which the Universe is said to have evolved).

Day 5: Skandamata Devi
On the fifth day of Navaratri Festival, we worship Devi Skandamata. She is the Goddess responsible for action and activity. The represents icchaskakti (the power of intention), gyanshakti (the power of knowledge) and krisyashakti (the power of action). Devi Parvati in this form is the mother of Skanda (Kartikeya), and she is called Skandamata.

Day 6: Katyayini Devi
Katyayini Devi is the sixth form of Devi or Goddess. She is a warrior goddess, and is known to protect the principles of Dharma and Satya. She rides a lion, has three eyes and four hands. She rules the adya chakra (the spot between the two eyes)- the centre of clarity and wisdom.

Day 7: Kaalaratri Devi
Kaalaratri Devi is the destroyer of darkness within. She is an incarnation of Goddess Parvati and is said to have destroyed the demons Shumbha, Nishumbha, and Raktabeeja. She controls Lord Shani and also Sahastrachakra (the seventh chakra, situated in the head).

Day 8: Maha Gauri
Maha Gauri is the symbol of purity and serenity. She has three eyes, four arms, and rides a bull. She is the ruler of Planet Rahu- who governs all desires.

Day 9: Siddhi Ratri Devi
Siddhi means perfection. Goddess Siddhidatri has four hands, and wields a gada (mace) and chakra (wheel) in her right hands had a shakha (conch) and lotus in her left hands. She rides a tiger, and is known to be a perfectionist. She governs planet Ketu.

Day 10: Significance of Dussera or Dasra
Significance of Vijayadashmi
Nine days of Navaratri are divided into three parts, each representing Tamas, Rajas, Satva
First three days represent Tamas: Goddess is fierce and in the form of Durga and Kali.
Next three days are related to Goddess Laxmi : Materialistic oriented.
Last Three days are dedicated to Goddesss Saraswati- Reading, learning and enlightenment.
On the day of Vijayadashmi, it is said that we have conquered all these qualities, we participated in these days, but overcame and did not give in.
