About this story
This is a story from Jataka tales, about King Brahmadatta of Benaras (Varanasi). He was an incarnation or avatar of the Bodhisatta, and was known for his righteousness and virtues, and he was respected by one and all. One day, he decided to travel to enquire from his subjects if they had any advise or complaints about him. Upon his return, he met the King of Kosala, who was his equal in almost every respect.
