This tale from Mahabharat tells us what happened to the Pandavs after the Mahabharat War.
After the Kurukshetra war, the Pandavas decided to retire and go on a pilgrimage to the Himalayas, along with their wife, Draupadi. As they ascended the mountains, one by one, the Pandavas and Draupadi fell to their deaths. Only Yudhishthira, the eldest Pandava, and his faithful dog, which he had acquired on the way, continued their journey. Yudhishthira and his dog reached the gates of heaven, where the gods welcomed him and invited him to enter. However, they refused to allow the dog to accompany him, stating that dogs were not allowed in heaven. Yudhishthira refused to abandon his loyal companion, as he believed that it was his duty to protect and care for the dog. The dog, who was actually an avatar of Lord Dharma, revealed his true identity and praised Yudhishthira for his steadfastness and compassion. Lord Dharma then offered to take Yudhishthira to heaven, but only after he passed a final test of his virtues. Yudhishthira agreed, and he was tested on his knowledge of dharma, his compassion, and his humility. After passing the test, Yudhishthira was finally allowed to enter heaven, along with his dog. There, he was reunited with his brothers and Draupadi, who had already ascended to heaven before him. The story is a powerful reminder of the importance of virtues such as compassion, loyalty, and humility in the face of adversity.
