First of all, thank you for being a listener of our podcasts! You are simply awesome! We were finding it difficult to maintain multiple websites, and of course you would find it inconvenient too! Welcome to the new Home for gaatha story!

blog
Welcome to the new home of the gaatha family of podcasts! new We've been thinking of consolidating our websites for the different podcasts under one umbrella. We actually used to do that for our parent site Kamakshimedia.in; but something didn't seem right. After all, we are trying to build the gaatha brand, and we had to include under this brand! So here we are, with our shiny new website, a different domain, and a more reliable webhost...and this one is way faster than the old one! Over the coming days, we will migrate the date from our sites gaatha.co (for Baalgatha); and MyKitaab.in (for MyKitaab). This site is also the home for the Myths, Legends and Fairytales of India Podcast- our latest show!

Tools That I Use for Podcasting

blog
tools I have written about the hardware setup that I have for my podcast ‘recording studio’ in the past. Today, I thought of writing about the programs or softwares that I use for managing the entire podcast workflow. By workflow, I mean the entire process right from identifying a potential guest to scheduling time with them, recording the interview, editing, release of an episode, and marketing. You might have guessed by now that releasing a podcast episode is not as simple as it seems. But by no means it is intimidating, in fact, once you set up the Standard Operating Procedure or SOP, it becomes quite easy to follow. Let us see how. Scheduling  Interviews I use Google Spreadsheet to manage the interview schedule. I’ve written about it in detail…

When “free” online Cloud storage comes at a cost

blog
Most of us use some form of “free” cloud storage or another, be it Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, or a similar service. So do I. But over the years, the choice and use of online storage services became a problem. Here’s how I overcame it. The problem of plenty Over the years, I have accumulated Two gmail accounts, one Windows Live! account, Dropbox, Cloudme, and after I got the Mac, an iCloud account. The good part is, I had a total of 50 GB of ‘free’ online storage. Add to that an additional 20 GB through My wife, 100 GB from my web host, and my alma mater’s google Apps (now Google Suite) account theoretically offers ‘unlimited’ storage). For sake of simplicity, let us say we have a total of 170…

How To Set Up A Podcast Recording Studio in Less Than 150 Dollars

blog
Recording Setting Up a Podcast Recording Studio in Less Than 150 Dollars When my wife and I launched Kamakshi Media LLP in January 2016, we used a 10 year old laptop and a $40 ATR 2100 USB mike. The calls were recorded over Skype, and we used Skype Call Recorder that worked well on Linux. During the first three months, the learning curve was steep. We learnt the finer aspects of podcasting such as how to record in stereo versus mono, how to reduce ambient noise, and how to effectively soundproof the recording area. Over a period of time, we read, discussed and experimented to make our setup as frugal yet functional as possible. By April 2016, our $100 studio was ready.Let us call this setup our mini-studio. Note that…
